FACTS ARE DANGEROUS

2020 has exalted me. Never have I felt so strongly in what I believe in. I feel confident in it because I stand for love. I have always known the dangers of “waiting for the truth to be verified”. I feel I should give a better context, I’m referring to the war that is going on in Ethiopia.

Prior to the beginning of the war, I would hear crazy things about my country like the fact that people were being discriminated against because they were from a certain ethnic region. I would try to verify these claims but I would get shut down because I didn’t have the proof. As if the pain in someone's voice wasn’t enough. Again and again and again this would happen. We would all wait until a foreign organization verified those claims. That is if they were lucky. In a country where democracy is not only gray but almost invisible, it can be an extremely dangerous game to wait for verification. Because that very well might not happen. And the next time it is verified, it might as well be in history books after millions of lives have been lost.

Yes, I am saying a very controversial thing right now which is intuition is more powerful than verified claims especially if the chess players are the ones who wrote the book. I’m not writing in defense of any political party but who I’m writing for are the people who are caught between this crossfire. The people who voice their stories and are shutdown because a reputable source hasn’t verified it. Every time they speak, they’re either told they deserve what’s happening or that they are part of propaganda.

I will forever stand for peace and not justified hatred.
